CMA membrane anode technology
A new generation of membrane technology for alkaline zinc nickel electrolytes
Our innovative CMA (Compact Membrane Anode) technology effectively prevents anodic oxidation, hinders the creation of organic breakdown products, and slows down the generation of carbonates during the alkaline zinc nickel process. By utilizing Compact Membrane Anodes, the formation of cyanide is effectively inhibited. The CMA technology maintains high conductivity in the plating electrolyte and ensures excellent plating performance by sustaining high plating rates. Simultaneously, it increases productivity and decreases wastewater treatment burden.
With the CMA, a compact, box-designed membrane anode with a removable feature, anode replacement can now be done while the compartment remains in the plating bath, eliminating the need for disassembly and significantly reducing maintenance downtime. The compact design allows for a reduced anolyte tank size of 200 liters, accommodating up to 100 compartments, making it ideal for customers with limited space and providing greater flexibility in installation. The anolyte tank features an automatic water refill function to maintain a consistent concentration level. A new dosing concept and interconnected CMA compartments eliminate the need for valves and flow meters, simplifying the system. The fast connection concept uses polypropylene fittings and a flexible hose for easy installation.
What inspires us
Why we developed the CMA technology
Your challenge
Alkaline zinc nickel plating has faced persistent challenges over the years, with one of the major concerns revolving around the proper management of wastewater disposal. The issue arises from the increasing electrolyte density caused by carbonate and organic compound breakdown products, ultimately resulting in reduced current efficiency and hampering the overall bath performance. Adding to the complexity is the cyanide generation during anodic oxidation, leading to elevated nickel concentration in the plating bath. This poses significant environmental risks and significantly drives up the costs and complexity of wastewater treatment. Dealing with these obstacles remains a critical task in the pursuit of sustainable and environmentally responsible zinc-nickel plating processes.
Our solution
Our innovative cutting-edge CMA technology effectively prevents the formation of organic breakdown products during the plating process and slows down carbonate generation, significantly reducing the need for carbonate freezing. One of the main benefits of Compact Membrane Anodes is their ability to impede the formation of cyanide, a common byproduct of anodic oxidation in all alkaline zinc-nickel electrolytes, even though the electrolytes are initially cyanide-free during their make-up. By using the CMA technology, a maintain high plating bath conductivity, leading to a more sustainable plating performance with faster plating rates is maintained. This not only minimizes resource consumption but also alleviates the burden of wastewater treatment since the operation remains cyanide-free. Our CMA technology marks a significant step forward in ensuring efficient and environmentally responsible alkaline zinc nickel plating processes.
