Betatec E – post-treatment for more than gold.
The process creates an organic monolayer on gold surfaces and other metal surfaces, which protects through hydrophilization of the surface. It repels nitric acid and other corrosive vapous and liquids. By that, both wire-bondability and solderability experience no negative impact. Furthermore, Betatec E reduces the layer thickness of plated material. An effective lubricating effect is detected, which reduces friction on the plated surface. Especially cost-intensive precious metals like gold are saved, resulting in much lower operating costs. Betatec E can be applied as either immersion or electrolytic (anodic) type. The immersion process already shows strong corrosion protection. For further improvements, we recommend using the anodic version.

Why we developed Betatec® E
Your challenge
Gold and other metal surfaces tend to stain or tarnish during exposure to corrosive vapors and liquids. This will sooner or later lead to impaired solderability of the surface. Its wetting performance and thus overall solderability is affected and may in the end lead to open contacts in the electronic circuit.
